I've observed a drastic change in my friend's figure after taking up boxing for a couple of months. Being asthmatic, she claims boxing has also improved her strength and stamina. An ex officemate also recommended it as the best exercise to trim down my bulky mid section. (wtf girl!) I figured boxing is a way to release stress and all angst and getting fit at the same time. Elorde boxing at Julia Vargas Ave., just beside Home Depot is the nearest fitness place and haven to boxing enthusiasts. The annual membership fee is P1,000 and P 200 per session. If you opt not to pay for membership, you have to pay P350 per session. This is a one-on-one training. If you are unsure about enrolling, you can try out one session. You fill up a form about yourself, indicating any health concerns. I don't think the trainers read your file though. Since my only form of exercise is walking to SM Megamall or walking nonstop inside the mall, my first boxing session was quite a shock. My trainer was too enthusiastic and too eager to find out how far I can go. The first few minutes were for warm ups. Stretching exercises etc. (Ok I was panting & catching my breath doing the jumping jacks). Then the footwork and punches. I never knew there's a method to this, just thought you just jab at the opponent anyway you can. I'm sort of good at choreography thus was able to get the movements quickly, then we were off to the ring. (Inaaaay!) But surprisingly I did love the punching. Love the contact of the sport. After a while we tried the huge punching bags. I was thrown off a bit from the weight. (Bigat pala pare!) The speedball was even harder. Of course nobody there expects you to be a pro on your first day. My trainer would always ask, "kaya mo pa?". Ako naman, yup! And he was giving me that look.. ah ganun kaya pala ha. I was subjected to more torture with 3 sets of 3 minutes each with the jumping rope. Then the most dreaded situps and abdominal exercises. Yes, I bought 2 boxes of salompas that weekend and I smelled of eucalyptus all day. It was the place to wear your most comfortable outfit. This is not fitness first where the place smells like perfume and cologne, and people wearing expensive gym outfits. This is going down and dirty. Hahaha! But is it worth it? Yes. Never mind that the place has no airconditioning. That once you step in inside, the place has the temperature resemblance of a sauna. Never mind that it is a long 15 minutes walk from my office. Never mind that you get the feel of JayJ's kitchen exhaust pipes when you go up and down the stairs from Elorde's main entrance. Yup it's worth it.
(Thanks Roly!!!)

The corrupt way of life....
I am gravely dispappointed at our law enforcement. Be wary when you ask for help or assistance. Things might just turn and work against you. This is exactly what happened months ago when we filed a police alarm against the sedan that hit our car and sped off.
Weeks after this incident, we received a complaint for a different hit&run incident that same night. This one involving a "pedestrian" who was crossing the same road and accusing my husband of reckless imprudence resulting to injury. Yes, asking for the sum of twelve thousand pesos in return. Fabricated evidences, circumstances patched together and a bunch of cops pushing conclusions.
12K isn't much compared to lawyers fees and all the time-consuming court hearings. I was even advised by a friend to just pay out and it will go like everybody has amnesia. That's the reality of life in the RP setting. What?! It is apalling to condone this practice. Principle? Yes. I was raised by a family of fighters. I was surrounded by ideas of freedom and political struggles. My relatives fought against something more than just a group of corrupt policemen, but the whole government and the powers that be. Times changed, and some have grown tired of fighting for corruption and greed and simply imbibed it as way of life.
There is a thin line between poverty and greed. On a tight fix, people would grab on to any opportunity to be able to eat or live. At the same time, people with power and authority would grab any opportunity to their advantage like milking a golden cow for a pail of gold coins. Is 12k enough? No...To add insult to injury, the disadvantaged are wrongly accused, humiliated and judged for something they did not commit. But hey, It's easy to jump off to the other line and say, heck I don't earn enough as a cop to feed my kids. In our case, there's always something darker behind it probably more than just a case of corruption. It may pull us down to something deeper. But what do we hold on to? Our principle. The things we belive in. The truth.

Can't Do Without...
I can't do without my family. Can't do without the 2 Marc's in my life (Marco Fernando --nope not a Latino hunk & Marc Ethan). Can't do without my friends. Can't do without God and Faith. Can't do without Love (oh yeah!), Can't do without many things, some even too superficial. But aside from the most importatnt people & beliefs in life, there are still small suerpficial things that make make my life run in smooth operation.

1. My Sony Ericsson K500i. Simple phone, good enough camera & mp3 for my ringtones. It's cheap & yet has better features than it's Nokia counterpart.
I know... it's time to upgrade. But so far, it serves its purpose.
2. Cherry Kiss Lip balm, gel foundation & Kohl eye pencil - A girl can't live without her makeup! 3 simple things that transforms a zombie-like complexion.
3. My 216x218mm Green Apple Notebook - It's not a fancy notebook with artsy hard covers & fillers. For 45 pesos, It's smooth & white enough to write all my daily reminders at work, notes and contact numbers. The neon green covers makes it easier to spot 10 feet away within a pile of papers & files on my desk.

4. Deodorant - Must I say why? It has always been a 'Secret' though.
5. Coffee in the morning. Doesn't matter whether it's brewed or instant.
6. Cable TV .... once you've experience cable, there's no going back...
7. Cocoa butter lotion - Smells like "latik", but it holds back nasty stretch marks. The cheaper ones from Lander can already work wonders.
8. Internet Connection. Used to be a priviledge. My first post paid connection was for P800 a month, 25 hours surfing time (+ 2 email addresses). My ISP, Quantum Internet. I'm hooked to the net all throughout my stay at the office. Nobody could function without the connection. Everybody is dependent on the emails, the system reports, the instant messaging services. It was the most convenient thing since the telephone.
8. My MP3s. Music moves, period. It may be U2, old 80's alternative (otherwise known as New Wave), The Clash, The Smiths, The Cure.
9. My 1995 Toyota Corolla GLi. My first car, my own car. It was my baby. Spent most of my savings in car accesories, new tires, the works. 55 series 16" Dunlops, Alpine stereo, 4 way speakers, viper security. Drove it to Baguio, up the demanding stretch of Kenon Road. Endless out of town trips. Nightouts with friends. Boy if this car could talk... it would reveal all my dirty secrets.
10. My new macbook. Yeeey! Finally! Thanks to my hubby, I have my own. Why a mac? Why not?

Music Inventory

I went thru my old "baul" and discovered I have collected a roomful of casette tapes and vinyl records of music I grew up listening to. After 2 hours of inventory, I can now say that I've owned almost all of Duran Duran's albums in the 80s. Mostly in casette form. Aghast! (And yes, I admit those were the days I wore lavander eye liner, crimped my hair ala Boy George and pretended I was a Brit) A few vinyll records include, Rolling Stone's 'Tatoo You', a hand-me-down gift from a cousin. For some reason, I also have a copy of an Ikabod Buwit album. Ah, my music influences...hahaha. "Best of Blondie", "Lotus Eaters" and the "Xanadu" soundtrack. The first LP I bought for P20. Yes, watched the movie and folded my frilly skirts ala Olivia Newton John's alien-cowgirl look. ELO's contributions to the album were quite impressive as well. I used to borrow my cousin's records since I obviously could not afford them. We listened to Fleetwood Mac, Rolling Stones and The Pretenders. I figured she was trying to veer me away from disco and the emerging bubblegum pop music. Chrissie Hynde became one of my icons, it was quite unexplainable why I wanted to look like her & not Pat Benatar. I did buy maroon boots & wore it over my pants. Shagged & gelled my hair like I missed bath for 5 days.
I did own single 45s of Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog" (don't ask), KC & the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way..", Devo's "Whip It"... (& danced to them as well).. Just like candy, I would write down the song titles and ask my dad to buy them.
The bulky & flimsy casettes were a mix of New Wave, punk, rock, R&B,..pop, dance.. Billy Idol, Duran Duran, Prince, Jackson 5, The Cure, Liz Phair, The Breeders, Coolio, ELO, Van Halen, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Queen, The Police, En Vogue, Janet Jackson, Enya, Frank Sinatra, Modern English, Maxwell, Pearl Jam, STP, Seal, Pet Shop Boys, REM, U2, Tori Amos, B52s, the Pretty in Pink soundtrack, Clueless soundtrack, Pret a Porter soundtrack, Moby, Fat Boy Slim, Gabrielle, Diane Reeves, Lisa Stansfield, Manhattan Transfer, Salt n Pepa, TLC, Depeche Mode, George Benson, OMD, Sheryll Crow, Veruca Salt, Jamiroquai, Brand New Heavies, The Clash, Nirvana, Erasure, Lords of the New church, The church, Eurythmics, Marc Almond, Style Council, Ella Fitzgerald, Stephen Duffy, George Benson, Yoyoma, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers, Aztec Camera, EBTG, The Chameleons...and the list goes on of course. Quite a selection...

HOW TO RECRUIT THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB
HOW TO RECRUIT THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB?
Put about 100 bricks in some particular order in a closed room with an open window. Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door. Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours and then analyze the situation.
If they are counting the bricks, Put them in the accounts department.
If they are recounting them, Put them in auditing.
If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks, Put them in engineering.
If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order, Put them in planning.
If they are throwing the bricks at each other, Put them in operations.
If they are sleeping, Put them in reception.
If they have broken the bricks into pieces, Put them in information technology.
If they are sitting idle, Put them in human resources.
If they say they have tried different combinations, yet not a brick has ! been moved, Put them in sales.
If they have already left for the day, Put them in marketing.
If they are staring out of the window, Put them on strategic planning.
And then last but not least...
If they are talking to each other and not a single brick has been moved, Congratulate them and put them in Top Management.

To dye for...
I'm not really that vain. Although no matter how I try to be high-maintenance, there's still a certain sloppiness which makes me...well,... me.
Few weeks ago I noticed that my self-dyed hair has grown out and since I'm attending a wedding weeks from now, I've decided to buy another home hair-dye kit and this time a different color from what I normally use. Sunday afternoon, I prepared all my kikay paraphernalia & proceeded with the operation inside fort knox (my bathroom). The direction reads 25 minutes but for some reason I decided to leave it on for another 1o minutes, then another 5 minutes... After the rinse & tons of conditioner, I faced the mirror with unexplainable horror. My once tame dull hair is now mandarin orange. It looked horribly worse than a cheap dye from a bottle. More like self-inflicted bathroom chemical dye... and I wasn't exactly aiming for an 80's punk look...
My husband was shocked but like a true gentleman that he is, assured me that the hair was fine. Love him.
I called my "suki" hairdresser & after a queer-eye-for-the-straight-girl moment, he demanded that I see him immediately. Of course I ended up shelling out more cash but I do look better in it. Now maybe next time I'll try it with my brows.

Crash
"No such thing as bad luck". I assured my husband on our way home from work.
Flashback. Sunday, 6:10 p.m.
Hubby & I figured in a minor car accident on our way home from church. My beloved hubby Marc was all relaxed and singing old baduy 70's tunes when the owner-type jeep ahead of us suddenly stopped at an intersection. Hubby was jolted from his 70's tralaland, hit the breaks just when our hood hit the jeep's rear end. Now a stainless jeep exterior to a 2003 Altis is like comparing arctic iceberg with leche flan. So obviously the jeep was completely unscathed. I, on the other hand, was able to test the seatbelt's effective break-sensor capabilities. Hmm very impressive, while my hubby was rattling away his temper.
We decided not to charge fron the insurance and instead pay P1500 for our car's bumper alignment & hood repainting-adjustments.
Fastforward.
Last night, hubby on his way from office hit another car's rear end. This time the owner (woman driver with PMS) was furious. We ended up at the police station, now with cool heads, exchanging numbers & sharing Marlboros with the owners of the AUV.
Now is this pure bad luck?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't want to judge my husband's driving skills. I think it's more than just driving. I have this theory...
Good driving is a combination of skill, patience and self-control. Skill, of course, the first step is to learn how to drive. After driving for 17 years, the act of driving itself comes natural like walking or running. You don't think about the gear shift or the clutch and looking at the rear view mirror becomes a natural reaction. Patience, because anger will get you nowhere. Road rage is a major killer. Self control? There's always an urge to push the pedal and go over that 100kmph limit. You don't really need to unless you're driving a Ferrari at F1 racing. Control that pride. You are not the king of the road.
My dad always say, "you'll die defending your right of way". You drive thru a major road and ignore the crossing traffic because you think it is your right of way. You are hit by a truck and suddenly your rights are burried in a grave.

2005...The year in review...
Every January issue magazine has a list of the most intriguing and memorable events of 2005. Personally, It was an exciting year. We moved in to a new office, hired new people, and maybe for the first time..my performance was appraised and I got a raise! But the most important part is that my efforts were appreciated.
Nah! That's not it...
This year also made me cringe and laugh with Tom Cruise's antics and unnatural behavior, Furious and panicked by the rollercoaster price of gasoline, Saddened by Punongbayan's death by chopper crash and overwhelmed by the return of 80's and bohemian fashion.
Here's a rundown...
1. BOHO LOOK
Everbody's going bohemian. The gypsy skirt paired with plain shirt, flat thongs, long stringy necklaces or dangly earrings were everywhere. Gold and silver flats and who would forget the white flats everyone bought at 5th Ave Robinsons Galleria. My mom's 70's necklaces and paisley runched skirt suddenly looked cool.
Catherine Malandrino skirt
2. THINK GREEN & PINK
Everything is green and pink and I'm not talking about Bayani Fernando & his mayor wife MCF. Lacoste shirts and imitations, girlscout green and shocking pink-fuschia leather bags, shoes and everything else.
Marc Jacobs bag
3. BALLERINA CHIC & ROMATICISM
From ballet flats in every color to frilly skirts and shirts. Ribbons and lace. Twinsets, knits and crochets. Although I do own a pair of ballet flats I have yet to find the courage to wear that tutu & frou-frou.
PEOPLE, EVENTS & EVERYTHING ELSE
1. WORLD PYRO OLYMPICS
So much rave about this event but I missed it. So why put it in my list? It's still worth mentioning. Considering that thousands flocked to the reclamation area sans 4 hours traffic just to see the less-than-10-minute spectacle.
2. TOM CRUISE AT OPRAH & LENO

What the f--- really... I mean, it was so unnatural. Like a soap opera and everything was scripted. I do like seeing spoiled celebs inlove like maybe Will Smith & Jada Pinkett or Brand & Angelina, but to see Tom going bonkers jumping up and down Oprah's couch was too much. It made me cringe to my bone. Now that Katie's preggers, I stand by the fact that it's all planned and packaged. Tommers, yes, you may hate me!
4. MAJOR BREAKUPS
Okay this is all about Brad & Jen. I guess every guy is looking for excitement, strong woman-of-the world, with substance & a purpose in life,..and yes a woman to bear his children.
3. HELLO GARCI!

'Hello Garci' was played repeatedly on radio, television and everybody's mobile phone. The scandal has prompted call for GMA's resignation and sparked the worst politcal crisis to hit RP in recent years. GMA denied but later apologized in somber mood to the outraged pinoys.
4. MR. PINATUBO
Dr. Raymundo Punongbayan became famous after the 1990 Luzon earthquake and Pinatubo eruption. He tried so hard to explain to the common pinoys the cause of volcanic activity and earth crust movement. I must admit he did made me panic after announcing that Marikina is lying over a faultline that cuts thru the Ateneo campus, Marikina River area down to Libis and Pasig.
Punongbayan while serving as a member of the Philippine National Red Cross Board of Governors died in a helicopter crash along with four members of Philvolcs and four air force crew members. They were out on a mission to assess the government's disaster preparedness operations and possible resettlements for people displaced by floods and landslides.
MY LIFE
1. NEW HIRES!
2005 I interviewd almost 75 candidates for different positions in a span of 2 months. Some of them had to wait for 4 more months before being hired officially by the company. I'm glad for the positive direction (I think) but I suddenly miss my old colleagues who were affected by previous re-structuring. They're irreplaceable.
2. ETHAN TURNS 1

We celebrated our son Ethan's 1st birthday at Jollibee Libis. It was the most tiring but the most memorable event since my wedding and his baptism party.
3. ETHAN MILESTONES
I was getting worried that Ethan hasn't started walking at 11 months. But after a few weeks from his 1st birthday, he made his made his first step. After a while he has started running and the list goes on. Counting 1-13, (though mostly in random order), singing the alphabet song, bahay kubo, happy birthday and old McDonald. He showed clear interest in music. Singing along with a microphone and dancing. Now my fear has shifted to his future in entertainment.
He has started communicating more clearly by saying things like "Ayaw!", "C'mon!" (when he wants to go out & play or leave the room), "Open" (obviously when he wants to open something),"Upo","Moon","Good Morning - How are you?","Hi","Thank You". It's surprising to hear him say out loud the things he would see around him. He's growing up real fast and we're proud of how he's turning out to be.

To Diet...

I don't believe in New Year resolutions, but this year I'm making an exception. I wouldn't really call it that way but now that I have a deadline, I have a strong motivation to control my over-eating tendencies and hopefully shed off a few pounds (and inches off my waist & hips). Which also means, I am also hoping to fit in my Medium size shirts and size 27 skirts.
I was so frustrated to find out that I wouldn't fit in that amazing top from Mango after having saved hard-earned cash... boohoo..
Yes..laugh out loud. Since I am now known for my voracious appetite, nobody believes I can diet.
Now to shell out P3200 bucks a month for gym membership is out of the question and the Atkins diet is like slow painful death. The Zone and South Beach diets are still far too difficult to maintain for a first-timer.
My diet plan is simple. First is to detox, Second, eat right i.e. eat less of everything (since I do eat too much of everything) and thirdly the most important of all, avoid sodas. This simple plan, for me is like hell. I would take anything with a Coke sign.
I have just started the 1st part of my program. Detox. The herbal tea that promised detoxification tasted like garden soil and the whole experience was comparable to my post natal prep enema. It drained out all waste, toxins including my energy for the whole day. There was a 48 hour feeling of running to the toilet. But it did get rid of excess flab from my bloated stomach.
Just to prove that I am capable of such a simple task, I did went thru a very strict low-sugar-low-carb diet. Never mind that I was at that time, 7 months pregnant. It was a diet of all wheat, fiber-rich food, fruits & meat. It was torture to my hormone-affected appetite. I turned away from my favorite instant grape juice, desserts and pastries, and P1.00 mini monay bread from our local panaderia. But my sugar level returned to normal in 2 weeks. Except my baby grew too large for a normal delivery.
The point being... if I could do that..I can do this..now...for a freaking wedding that I have to attend in 5 weeks...and yes..the top from Mango.

Shape of things to come...
I chanced upon this garment at the mall that promises contour enhancement. The saleslady insisting that this piece of clothing works miracles and to me it sounded more like an insult to my unflattering figure.
Quick history:
Flashback 1996. I barely weighed 90lbs. I forked out some cash to buy myself a can of Ensure that tasted more like breastmilk. I switched to choco-flavored Sustagen mixed with full cream milk to add more flab to my anorexic figure.
Fast-forward 1999. 100 lbs. I've concluded that most effective weight-gain program - A steady boyfriend with a big appetite.
2002 - Another factor that has greatly affected my eating habits. Stable job. Daily dose of McDonald's value meal and fast-food specialities.
2003 - Pregnancy
2004 - Age.. holy sh--!
According to Dr. Bello, there is always a price for beauty. On my wedding day I wore this expensive maidenform corset that didn't do much for my empire-cut gown. That night my lungs hurt like hell and felt like my life would end on my honeymoon. The hotel nurse asked about all the things I ate and all my activities for the day. "I got married" I joked. No reaction from her side, then she said. "You wore something too tight no?"
Hotel Nurse cum psychic huh?
I later accepted the fact that things will never be the same again. I guess, that includes my figure.

The UPLB Men's Dorm

Came across an article about my home-away-from-home for 4 years at UPLB. T'was a life-changing experience. My first taste of independence..And after 12 years in super conservative St. Scho this was my big step to freedom.
The UP Men's Residence Hall...or Men's Co-Ed Dorm.. (Mens na nga, coed pa?-you ask..)
Brief History: (http://www.uplb.edu.ph/admin/shd/dorms.html)
Men's Residence Hall was originally a one-building dormitory, which accommodates male students. However, due to the increasing population of male students because of the expansion of courses offered in the university, four buildings were added in 1968. In 1974, two buildings were converted to house the increasing female population. In 1982 to the present, three buildings were assigned to the female residents.
In the first semester of SY 2001-2002, a new policy was instituted to gradually transform the dormitory into a "Kalayaan" type (patterned after the dormitory in U.P. Diliman) that caters only to new freshmen. Upper classmen will be allowed to stay until they graduate. In 2004, Men's Residence Hall will be exclusively for new freshmen, which will only be allowed to stay for one year.
I shared Room 2103 with 3 upperclassmen who gave me a solid orientation on campus survival and the mysterious 'blue book'. I occupied the top bunk by the window, a comfortable rather confining space. I figured this was a surefire way to attract a Makiling ghost. Imagine the stories I would tell my chain-smoking friends.
Unfortunately I had no ghost stories to tell. I did find it disturbing to see a "bayawak" hanging out by my window & eventually decided to make this his home. Friendly neighborhood bayawak. Had to get used to the tuko that tuko'd-tuko'd-tuko'd all thru the night and was intentionally annoying the crap out of my freshman butt. Thank God for screened windows.
Not everything here is rural. This, by the way, is UP's home of biological sciences. Los Banos being a nature park of sorts probably breeds the biggest specie of millipedes in the RP. I detest slimy creepy crawling creatures and everything in larvae form. But just like the bayawak, they have an affinity for the cold moist cement wall near my cozy space. Imagine the horror of finding one creepy crawler getting cozy under my mattress. I had no recollection how I jumped from the top bunk 5 feet from the floor & ran out like a bra-less maniac.
But aside from all the nature-tripping...my stay at the dorm was an eye-opener. Yes I did line up for the shower like a big hollywood blockbuster movie. There was a water supply schedule that I had to organize along with your class schedule. I paid less than P200 a month for my rent including electricity for this (moi) spoiled brat's necessities: mini-component and mini-refrigerator. I was even voted Dorm Treasurer which happened to be the most boring extra-curricular experience of my life. I watched TV along with 30 other occupants under the mercy of the fratboy jerk with the remote. But I learned to make this my home away from home. My family - 3 girls and 637 others under the same roof.

Whats going on?
What’s going on?
...remind me not to complain too much...
http://www.globalissues.org/TradeRelated/Poverty.asp
- Half the world — nearly three billion people — live on less than two dollars a day.
- The GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of the poorest 48 nations (i.e. a quarter of the world’s countries) is less than the wealth of the world’s three richest people combined.
- Nearly a billion people entered the 21st century unable to read a book or sign their names.
- Less than one per cent of what the world spent every year on weapons was needed to put every child into school by the year 2000 and yet it didn’t happen.
- 1 billion children live in poverty (1 in 2 children in the world). 640 million live without adequate shelter, 400 million have no access to safe water, 270 million have no access to health services. 10.6 million died in 2003 before they reached the age of 5.

Would I like some cheese to go with my whine???
whining bitch..
I'm in a dreadful mood...unusual since its Friday. I'm usually..Alive-awake-alert-enthusiastic... Looking forward to 2 days away from work.
Recently I've been dragging not just my feet to work.
I suddenly hate doing the things I used to do and apprehensive about things I need to do...then I complain like a J-Lo diva. I used to extend an arm, a leg or whatever to help out and I take the initiative to do things on my own. Slap me silly please!!!.. Now there's a question of 'so what do I get out of this?' attached to everything even answering my phone or scratching my butt...
ah, I guess its time...
Time to move out...and move on...

....sigh...
I always ask our applicants..what are the most important things at work?
I am suddenly in that situation where I had to ask myself the same question...
My answer...
-Challenge
-Creativity
-Relationships
-Appreciation
At this point I guess I'm putting in renumeration... (always take into consideration the economic crisis)
quick somewhat-irrelevant thought---
What's worse than long painful death?
working for a short,arrogant,name-dropping,judgemental,insensitive,senior citizen boss?
Whenever I'm pissed at work, I immediately open my Jobstreet account and send a
dozen of applications...Then I miss 80% of the interviews and get creative with my excuses... Why oh why?
I think about burning my book, 'What color is your parachute' by Richard Bolles.
It was a gift from my uncle back when I was unemployed..for almost 3 years... This book is about skills, career management, happiness at work etc.
I hate my skills...
Things I'm never good at:
1. The details (I can't remember them...I easilly forget them..blame the anesthesia)
2. Numbers (I'll count bills over & over...)
3. Filing (is this something anybody should be good at?....)
4. Control (inventory...logistics...procedures??..I love to lose control..hehehe)
Why a career in Human Resources?
a not-so unique ability to understand individual behavior in a group setting...
I am in that rotten place where you find yourself stuck in something you can't get out of. Oh yeah, I now hear Bono singing.."you've got to get yourself together, you got stuck in the moment, & you can't get out of it.."
Worst part is that this is not just a "moment" thing, but almost like a lifetime of being stuck. "Infinistuck"...
My friend insisting that I'm in the wrong place...wrong job..wrong everything...
"Lusyang...hindi ka dapat HR. Wala kang pakialam sa mga yan. You hate the rules. You complain too much on everything..Hindi ka bagay dyan...
She's right...

Memorable Movie Quotes Vol. 2
A few important lines that sort of explains...why I love the movies...
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN
Private Reiben: You want to explain the math of this to me? I mean, where's the sense in risking the lives of the eight of us to save one guy?
Captain Miller: Anyone wanna answer that?
Medic Wade: Hey, think about the poor bastard's mother.
Private Reiben: Hey, Wade, I got a mother, you got a mother, the sarge has got a mother. I'm willing to bet that even the Captain's got a mother. Well, maybe not the Captain, but the rest of us have got mothers.
Most apt title: Hating Private Ryan..
LOTR: RETURN OF THE KING
Aragorn: I summon you to fulfill your oath.
King of the Dead: None but the king of Gondor may command me.
[Swings sword; Aragorn blocks him with the sword of Anduril]
King of the Dead: The blade was broken
Aragorn: It has been remade.
Aragorn: Fight for us... and regain your honor.
ah yes, the moment I was waiting for...
Witch King: You fool. No man can kill me. Die now.
Eowyn: I am no man.
"I am ate guy..."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GLADIATOR
Commodus: How dare you show your back to me! Slave, you will remove your helmet and tell me your name.
Maximus: [removes helmet and turns around to face Commodus] My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.
Real revenge...is Russel in a skirt
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BABE
Narrator: And though every single human in the stands or in the commentary boxes was at a complete loss for words, the man who in his life had uttered fewer words than any of them knew exactly what to say.
Farmer Hoggett: That'll do, pig. That'll do.
Had a hard time eating my porkchops after this..

Recruitment Files Vol. 2 - TIPS
The interviewer observes the applicants every move... Fresh grads & first time applicants check the textbook Guide to Interviews... boys & girls..here are some tips not mentioned by your Career Guide or even your favorite Richard Bolles' "What Color is you Parachute" edition..
1. Know when to shut up.. As in..
Don't exagerrate.
Don't give too many opinions.
Never give unsolicited comments.
Don't give a bad rap about your former employer.
Don't talk too much.
Never ever..butt in.
2. Focus. This is not the time to daydream.
3. Don't stare like you're posessed. This will creep out your interviewer.
Make eye contact, but don't overdo it.
3. Sit properly. This is a job interview. Not therapy.
4. Act like a pro. This is not star search, star in a million or abs-cbn
talent search. We are not after your rapping skills, ya know.
5. Limit the "ya know what I mean.." phrase. Its annoying enough when J.Lo uses it.
6. Don't raise your eyebrows...(wag na magtaray please... leave the pagtataray to me)
7. Again this is not therapy. I don't care about your problems.
8. The interviewer is looking for confidence..not overconfidence, and definitely not arrogance. (Oh please, I'm from UP too...so save it!)
9. Don't speak too loud. You are not applying for the PEP squad.
10. No sales talk please. (I am not buying magnetic shoe pads..)

The Mini..

Last week a sleek blue Mini stopped beside me while on traffic. I'm not a big fan of small automobiles that cause claustrophobia but my interest suddenly shifted from the cumbersome SUV to the real star of the movie Italian Job. I figured this movie was made for the Mini...especially since Mark Whalberg didn't do much for it. Europeans love the Mini because of its power & its practicality to the narrow streets of Euroupe. Entirely different to the Americans love for Maybachs, Escalades & Fords. The best & most comfortable way to get them thru different states and huge freeways.
We pinoys on the other hand, are so into the aesthetics of impractical automobiles. Like rap stars who collect, trade & upgrade the symbol for success & power. Now if I were single, rich, Sean Puffy Combs ex-gf..I would take the Mini. Easier to park parallel & in between the F150 and Navigator along Daang Bakal. Much easier to traverse thru EDSA traffic..Will be a problem though trying to fit all my chain-smoking friends inside.
